Shorten Wants No Plibersek On Gay Marriage

Stefan Di Marco Thursday 22 October 2015

OPPOSITION Leader Bill Shorten today told his party he would prefer there be ‘no Plibersek’ on same sex marriage, preferring the matter be decided by a free vote by the Parliament.

Questioned what he had against his deputy, Mr Shorten said he had “Nuffink against Tanya and they were both united on gay marriage.”

“What I’m saying is vat we do not want a Plibersek on gay marriage. Dis has nuffink to do wiff Tanya.”

Bemused caucus members asked Mr Shorten if he meant a ‘plebiscite’ on gay marriage.

Pausing for a moment, Mr Shorten replied, “Ohhhh the plebbers...the plebs. Okay got you. No we should not let the plebs vote on a Plibersek. Vat would be a disaster. The plebs might get what they want. Vat’s a risky strategy.”

Prime Minister Turnbull invited Mr Shorten to adopt a bilateral position on same sex marriage, however the Opposition Leader said he thanked the Prime Minster for his flattering proposal but he was happily married.
